How to Choose the Right Office Chair
Choosing an office chair is one of the most important decisions you will make for your workspace. An ergonomic chair can reduce back pain, improve focus, and boost productivity.
1. Look for Adjustable Height
The optimal seat height is about one quarter of your body height. Being able to adjust your chair's height is crucial to ensure that your feet are flat on the floor and your thighs are parallel to the floor.
2. Lumbar Support is Non-Negotiable
A good office chair should have support for your lower back. Some of the better ones even have adjustable lumbar support that allows you to fit the chair to your lower back. This is important in preventing back strain that can worsen and become sciatica.
3. Check the Seat Material
The material on the chair seat and back should have enough padding to be comfortable to sit on for extended periods. Having a breathable cloth fabric is preferable to a harder surface.
4. Armrests
Office chair armrests should be adjustable. They should allow the user's arms to rest comfortably and shoulders to be relaxed.
